17 - eatrightPREP Schedule and Requirements

Updated: 2/3/2026

All interns will be required to purchase eatrightPREP, a study material for the RD exam from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, using the specific cohort-specific university code in the beginning of their first Spring semester. The program contains flashcards, pretest questions, three practice tests, two simulated RD tests, and other materials to help you prepare for the RD exam. Specific materials will be assigned throughout rotations, discussed below. The practice exams can be taken more than once.

Interns in the integrated DI/MS program will have access to the system for 20 months from first log-in; the four semesters of rotations will last 16 months, with access for four months after graduation for personal exam preparation. Interns in the standalone DI will have access for 12 months after first log-in; eight months for duration of rotations, four months for personal exam preparation. The DI Director and Nutritional Sciences Department encourages taking the exam as soon after graduation as possible for the best success.

The pretest questions are divided into four domains:

  • Principles of Dietetics
  • Nutrition Care for Individuals and Groups
  • Food Service Systems
  • Management of Food and Nutrition Programs and Services

Students will complete the following pretest question domains during their respective rotations:

  • Clinical Rotations: Complete “Nutrition Care for Individuals and Groups” pretest questions + 1 practice test
  • Food Service Rotation: Complete “Food Service Systems” AND “Management of Food and Nutrition Programs and Services” pretest questions + 1 practice test
  • Community Rotation: Complete “Principes of Dietetics” pretest questions + 1 practice test
  • Elective Rotation: Complete at least 200 flashcards from any/all domains + retake the practice test with the lowest score

The eatrightPREP materials must be concluded by the end of each of the four rotations. Interns will submit screenshots to Canvas in the appropriate dropbox to receive credit for completion and provide updates on progress in the rotation weekly check-in. The Director can also access students’ dashboards to assess progress.
