12 - Grading

Interns are initially enrolled in NS 7426, a six credit hour, pass/fail professional course. Students who wish to use it for credit toward the optional Master of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences must apply to the Graduate College (no GRE required). They will be administratively transferred to NS 5426, which is a graded course.

In order to pass NS 7426, the intern must score ≥ 69.5% of all possible points listed in the table below.

The grade for NS 5426 will be determined as:

A = 89.5 – 100%
B = 79.5 – 89.4%
C = 69.5 – 79.4%
D = 59.5 – 69.4%
F = 59.4% and below

In addition to the graduation requirements outlined in the OUHSC and College of Allied Health Student Handbooks, in order to successfully pass the IP, earn a certificate from the University, and receive a verification statement from the program, the intern must:

  • Complete all assignments, projects and evaluations as outlined in the curriculum (or for which they received prior learning credit) at a score of level 3 or greater;
  • Pass the final comprehensive competency exam with a score of 69.5% or better;
  • Have exhibited no actions which have resulted in expulsion from a participating facility or organization, or from the Program;
  • Have completed the 1200 clock hours of supervised practice as required by ACEND within 12 months of starting the program;
  • Have returned all borrowed textbooks, keys (if applicable), and materials to the assigned facility or sponsoring institution from which they were borrowed.
