11 - Graduation Requirement

Updated: 10/25/2026

The Academic Progress Committee (APC) will recommend a student for graduation if the student has successfully completed the final program semester, has no remaining required coursework or supervised practice, and is in good academic standing. In addition, all interns (other than those with absences due to military service as outlined in section 8.2 of the OU Health Campus Student Handbook) are required to complete all program requirements within two times the standard completion timeline: 44 months for DI/MS students, and 14 months for the DI standalone students. This timeline begins on the first day of program coursework. In cases of documented extenuating circumstances such as serious illness, family emergency, or other significant hardship, students may request additional time to complete the program. Requests will be reviewed by the APC and, if supported, forwarded to the Dean for approval. Approved leaves of absence and other exceptions granted under University policy will not count against the maximum time for program completion indicated above for your program plan. A student who is unable to complete all requirements in the prescribed timeframe, and who has not been granted an approved extension, will be recommended for dismissal from the program.
